Went to the Goodguys Car show today. I have a 70 4SP W30. It has a HEI. I came to a stop light, put the clutch in,car died,let clutch out and started, thought that was wierd but keep going. Came off the freeway, stoped , and went to next stop sign, and car backfired like a gun shot.Drove rest way home, about 4 miles later, it just died and smoke came out the hood. Tried the starter, would not work. I was on a enought hill, I let it roll backwards, would not start, tried the key,nothing at all. Called my wife to tow me home. Got car in the garage,took a look, thought it was to be the electrial problem. Checked the wire to the cap, and no lite, may not have had the probe in all the way, but no lite., Had my wife turn on the key and had a troble lite on, and starter worked. So I had her get out, and I tired it and the car started. This to me is harder than it won't start at all. Any Ideas? Took the cap off all looks good. I'm thinking,modual, or ignition switch? Any ideas? Thanks
