Thanks for the quick response to my question. When the carburetor was rebuilt at a local (well established) carburetor repair business, they were aware of the need to epoxy the plugs and took care of that at the same time. Right now I'm awaiting delivery of a replacement choke pull-off for my carb. Mine is shot according to the repair shop. I'm running an electric choke on the carb. The biggest problem I have with the Rochester is the lack of fuel at cold start. I have a new gas tank, lines, fuel pump & in-line carb filter. The car takes forever to start, and when it does, I'm blowing smoke from flooding the carb. The car does not blow smoke when being driven, only following a cold / hard start. Do you think the carb could still be leaking down overnight? I've tried all different ways of cold starts. Nothing seems to work until I end up flooding the carb. I checked my plugs and they are not fouled or burnt. Do you think the choke could be the cause of the hard cold starts? If not, do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for all your help. |
