7/14/2010 1969 OLDS 442 in ready to GO condition. I am the third owner of the car for the last ten years. The original protecto plate is still in the glove box. The is a bucket seat car with a center console. This car would be a low A to a high B. The car is a numbers matching full restored without a frame off. The engine is 400 Big Block bored .030" with a Holley 770 street avenger carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake, Lunati Street Strip cam. I have the original intake for the new owner. The transmission is a TH-400 with a 3200 stall converter, the original converter will go with the car. The interior is all black and been redone from the headliner to the carpet. The body is painted white with black stripes on the hood. All the bezels and trim are in excellent condition. There is one little blemish on the front bumper when it got re-chromed, there are also a spare set of bumpers for the car. This car has been garage kept for the last 20 years. The car has power steering and disc brakes with no AC. The body is excellent condition with no floor pan rust or body cancer. There are only two spots of filler on the front two quarter panels the size of half dollars that have some filler in them. All the door and trunk seals have been replaced. 7/14/2010 I have two 68'Cutlass 442's. One is a 68 442 with numbers matching engine with correct C heads, air cleaner and carb. Bucket seats, floor shift. Needs complete resto. Body is rough but has decent floors, roof and trunk. Clear title. The other is a 68' Cutlass "S" that came from Oklahoma and is pretty solid. Needs a lower quarter patch on driver side and one small spot in front of the rear quarter on the pass. side. Fenders, 442 hood, floors, etc. all solid. Both car's have clear titles. The Cutlass is missing it's bench seat and only has a 350 short block in it. The heads and intake and stuff are gone. Fenders are very solid as well the doors, etc. The doors on the 442 are solid too, but do have some dings. 442 is originally Sapphire blue with black vinyl top and black interior. While the Cutlass "S" was Crystal turquoise color repainted to white. Enough parts to do this resto with extra parts left over. Rear cutout bumper in decent shape not rusted out, driver quality. Two front bumpers one on Cutlass is decent shape as well. Asking 4k or best offer. Pics available. Need to sell these as I'm tired of paying storage fee's to keep them put up. Special order Cutlass in 1970, bucket seats, 4bbl , 350 , 4 speed with Hurst shifter, dual exhaust. factory tachometer. Engine was rebuilt at 115,000 miles in 1998 and odometer now shows 136,000. Clutch was replaced at 115,000 miles, many new or replaced parts over the years, recently: new exhaust, suspension: 1" lowering Hotchkis springs, Bilstein shocks, rear sway bar, rebuilt front sway bar, new steering linkage and tires are new. 6/2/2010 My son found me this 1971 Cutlass S NC car and it is currently at his home in Jacksonville NC. I am in Detroit and will be visiting him 6-25 to 7-4. He is a Marine and will be out of country so if you want this car, you will need to inspect and pick up while I am there. 71 S with REAL w-27 hood, disc brakes, sport wheel, no AC. Car runs good but the 350 4 bbl smokes a bit. Has rust in rear quarters behind tires and under the vinyl top. Needs resto but is not a rust bucket! 5/19/2010 VIN NUMBER 344678M401722 unrestored '68 442 convertible, blue with pearl white interior and white top, extremely clean, original purchased by a little lady in Kansas, her daily driver until 1978 when it was purchased by a farmer in ND for his wife. He was passing through town with his brother picking up an Edsel of all things!? and the car was for sale on the side of the road. So he bought it and brought it back. The pretty blue 442 had 78k miles on it then and now, 32yrs later it has 83,522!! Since 1978 it was driven to town occasionally, driven in parades with her grandkids and used in their daughters marriage. It sat in a steel quonset the rest of the time. The last couple of years the man's health had been in decline, congenital heart failure, he passed recently. They had a large farm that she was left with and many old cars, trucks and farm equipment dating back to the 30's. She couldn't bear to see the stuff auctioned off and has chosen to stay there until her time comes. I found out about the car through her insurance agent, who was letting some people know about it and that she wanted to sell it to raise some cash for mounting expenses with her husbands health. She actually doesn't drive much anymore (she is in her 80's). I contacted her and went to look at it, I brought a battery and some gas, she said it hadn't been started in a year "..or so". Dumped gas in the carb, cranked it up and it fired right off with no smoke or noises! Drove it around the yard and everything worked great. This thing RUNS great, purrs like a kitten, doesn't knock or smoke, has awesome power (premium fuel), I drove it about 350 miles, drives great!!! THE GOOD: 99% original, PROTECT-A-PLATE, owners manuals (there is three counting the 442 and convert ones), motor has not been messed with, I can't see any gaskets that have been replace or silicone seal hanging out, the air cleaner is there along with the heat tube (which is extremely hard to find). The carb, radiator, brackets, tabs, water pump, bolts, everything looks original except for some maintenance items like hose clamps, spark plugs, dist cap, etc. The bottom of the car is dirty (it was driven on gravel roads and I'm sure it just got hosed off on the outside once a year wether it needed it or not) but nothing appears rusted badly or pitted. It would seem the transmission, exhaust, driveshaft u-joints, shocks, etc. are all original.The trunk has the vacuum operated release that functions perfect and the trunk light still works. The interior is in great shape, the original floormats are there, the seats are way above average, the carpet is still good, etc. The plastic seat backs are starting to chalk but may be saveable. The rear door panels and convertible top hardware covers are in great shape. The front door panels are curling on the bottom and losing there shape. console is in nice shape (shift ball was missing), original radio, (doesn't work), all interior lights work, dash in perfect shape, convertible top is excellent, hardware is great and it works superb. The stainless trim is all there and in nice shape, couple of dings but easily fixable. Bumpers are decent and look good for being 42 years old. Emblems, trim, grille, lights, lenses, etc all above average and restorable. The body, floor pans & trunk are excellent. NOTE: the original red line tire in the trunk!!! You can clearly see it was rotated and is an oe tire. THE BAD: -both front fenders have small rust at lower rear, gravel roads! (the rest of the body appears excellent!!!) -the car had a simple repaint at some time in the 70's, the jambs are untouched but the job is old and looks ok -one exhaust gasket is leaking -the trans dipstick tube o-ring leaks when it sits -AC system is complete but needs to be charged -the tires are old, probably mid-70's, not dry rotted but... -the convertible top rear window is split if you are in the area, please contact me, you can inspect the car, start it, etc. nothing to hide! give me a jingle or email and I'll send you a ton of pics. john@btptotalperformance.com 701-223-8765bismarck nd AD#66696
